Like so many revolutions, movements and hare-brained ideas, this little cookery book was born in a pub. The pub is this books touchstone, and I’ve listed an excellent choice of drink to go with each recipe. Even though I’m still cooking from this book, opening its pages feels like the past — my past with cooking school and food adventures abroad and the things I’ve learned (and unlearned) in farmhouses across the country.
